Jelly Bean Elizabeth, a cottontail rabbit, peeks her head out of a chocolate house, festooned with real grass and flowers. Jelly Bean Elizabeth will be on display for the Easter season.
Damenti's Hideaway Ice Cave
Kevin opened ‘Dead Man Sculpt No Ice at the Pirates Hideaway Cave’ at Damenti’s Restaurant on January 22nd - March 4th 2010. This year’s ice sculpture is the first of its kind. It is a free standing ice igloo with ice bar and a freezing element that will keep it from melting due to warmer temperatures. About 50 tons of ice makes up the walls, roof, serving bar, benches and décor. It will be open to the public and The American Cancer society is the beneficiary of proceeds. Volunteers manning the bar will be serving hot chocolate, hot tea, coffee, spirited beverages and snacks. One dollar from each drink sold will be donated to charity. Admission is free but we want a 5-dollar donation to get out of the ice structure.
 
 
 
 
boccie or bocci or bocce
A game of Italian origin similar to lawn bowling which is played on a long narrow court.
Damenti's Restaurant is happy to announce the opening of our new Boccie court. We are, to the best of my knowledge, the first public restaurant in the area that offers Boccie says Kevin McDonald, Damenti's Chef and Owner.
The boccie court meets the International Boccie Federations size (sixty foot by twelve foot) requirements and rules for the game are very simple, states Kevin. The court is made with a framed stone sub base and the finished surface of the court is washed stone dust that allows for fast water drainage.
The game can be played by anyone whether young or old. From 2 to 8 players can play, and a game usually takes less than a half-hour. Lights have been added for play after dark.
Customer reaction to the game has been extremely positive. Helen and I hope our customers will enjoy the backyard court and our garden throughout the summer and fall. Our squash blossoms are now in season and so are Soft-shell crabs. It's the perfect time to come visit the restaurant.
The Ice Palace last year and those in the future will be constructed on the boccie court. Previously, there always was a problem of finding a suitable level area for the Ice Palaces. Now the new boccie court provides an excellent level foundation to contain the ice structures. Come springtime, the boccie court will again become available for our customers enjoyment. Reservations and court times can be made on a nightly basis
